The ranch ranges in elevations from 2450 feet near the headquarters at the San Pedro River to 5865 feet in the Galiuro Mountains at the northern boundry. Primarily slopes and washes run east to west from the Galiuros to the San Pedro River. The summer rains turn the ranch green for miles and provide some of the best grazing land in the world. Amazing sunsets and spectacular mountain views make the ranch a scenic masterpiece year round as the shadows cast upon the mountains and valley below cast an array of spectacular colors 365 days a year. Sunsets nearly year round but in the winter months the mountains are frequently dusted with snow which is not only a viewing spectacular but the snow runs off and feeds the nearly 50 natural springs and the San Pedro River. Vegetation at the ranch includes catclaw, mesquite, creosote, and various desert browse and cactus. There are some large trees such as sycamore and cottonwoods along the San Pedro and near the springs. Oak and Juniper trees can be found in the higher elevations. Grasses including gramas, dropseeds, muhlys, lovegrass and some annuals such as Indian wheat and filaree occur in years with adequate late winter and early spring precipitation. The location takes its name from a nearby butte of the same name, so called because of its resemblance to a huge sombrero. One a three story mansion constructed by Frank and R Sibley the remains of the mansion are still present. Mining operations began in the Copper Creek area at the start of the last century, when one E. R. Sibley established the town to serve what was then known as the Bunker Hill Mining District. By around 1910 there were over 200 residents, and dozens of buildings including a three-storey mansion, home of the Sibley family. The mines declined quickly, closing in 1917, and soon after all buildings were abandoned. Historic sites on the ranch include the two ghost towns of Sombrero Butte and Copper Creek, the old Blue Bird silver mine, the old stage coach stop at Monte Bonito, one of the last pony express routes that ran through the Sombero Butte area and a multitude of old abandoned homesteads. There are three dwellings on the property and a multitude of other outbuildings, corrals, additional storage structures, horse corrals and livestock areas.
