Dick Calkins, creator of the Buck Rodgers comic strips of the late 1920s built a cabin on the Buckskin, then owned by WWII pilot, Buzz Higley. Some of Calkin’s best work during his cowpoke period was graffiti, several of which still adorn the walls of the Buckskin Ranch House. Frank Tinker wrote: One graffiti depicts a single tooth saddle bum: you go into the bathroom see and get settled. Then you realize that you are not alone.
